Сценарий мероприятия курса внеурочной деятельности «Английский клуб»
«Литературная композиция по произведению О’Генри «Дары Волхвов».
Ребёнок-росток человеческий. В нём изначально заложено
неуемное стремление к развитию. Цель становящейся
личности-утвердить своё неповторимоё предназначение.
А цель педагога-помочь ему в этом.

Внеурочная деятельность является составной частью учебно-воспитательного процесса и одной из форм организации свободного времени учащихся. Внеурочная деятельность организуется во внеурочное время для удовлетворения потребностей учащихся в содержательном досуге, их участии в самоуправлении и общественно полезной деятельности.
Раздел вариативной части «Внеурочная деятельность», определенный основной образовательной программой общеобразовательного учреждения для обучающихся, позволяет в полной мере реализовать требования федеральных государственных образовательных стандартов общего образования
Организация занятий по направлениям курсов внеурочной деятельности является неотъемлемой частью образовательного процесса. Школа предоставляет обучающимся и их родителям возможность выбора широкого спектра занятий, направленных на развитие детей. Часы, отводимые на внеурочную деятельность, используются по желанию обучающихся и их родителей, направлены на реализацию различных форм ее организации, отличных от урочной системы обучения. Занятия проводятся учителя нашей школы в форме экскурсий, кружков, секций, клубов, олимпиад, соревнований, поисковых и научных исследований и т.д. Внеурочная деятельность обучающихся организуется по 5 направлениям развития личности: спортивно-оздоровительное, общекультурное, общеинтеллектуальное, духовно-нравственное и социальное.
Вашему вниманию будет представлена литературная композиция по произведению О’Генри «Дары Волхвов», подготовленная учащимися Английского клуба.
Задачами следующего мероприятия являются: приобщение к культурным ценностям страны английского языка, знакомство с произведениями классической литературы Великобритании, развитие творческих и актёрских способностей, повышение интереса к предмету.

O’Henry published his stories in magazines, but he is often late.One year O’Henry promised a Christmas story but he hadn’t turn up with it. The illustrator had to draw the pictures for the story but there was no story.Finally, the magazine sent the illustrator to find O’Henry. He was at home and hadn’t written anything. He hadn’t thought about the plot of the srory either. But the illustrator needed to know the plot. “Give me an idea.What should I draw?” he asked. O’Henry thought for a moment, then said,”Just draw a picture of a poor room with a very little furniture…On the bed,a man and a woman are sitting together.They are talking about Christmas.The man has a watch in his hand…The woman has beautiful long hair.That’s all for now, but the story is coming.” Finally, he wrote the story in three hours.That is how one of the most magical Christmas stories in the world “The Gift of the Magi” was written.
Волхвы, те, что принесли дары младенцу в яслях, были, как известно, мудрые, удивительно мудрые люди. Они-то и завели моду делать рождественские подарки. И так как они были мудры, то и дары их были мудры, может быть, даже с оговорённым правом обмена в случае непригодности. А я тут рассказал вам ничем не примечательную историю про двух глупых детей из восьмидолларовой квартирки, которые самым немудрым образом пожертвовали друг для друга своими величайшими сокровищами. Но да будет сказано в назидание мудрецам наших дней, что из всех дарителей эти двое были мудрейшими. Из всех, кто подносит и принимает дары, истинно мудры лишь подобные им. Везде и всюду. Они и есть волхвы.

O. Henry: My dear friends, I hope you still remember me! I’m O. Henry, a famous American writer. I’d like to tell you my favourite story. It is set on Christmas Eve. The main characters are
Jim and Della, two young people, husband and wife. They live in a small flat in an old house in one of the dirty streets of New York. They work from early morning till late at night but got very little money. They have two things which are very dear to them- Jim’s gold watch and Della’s beautiful hair. (They are sitting on the sofa in the living room. There is a Christmas Tree in the middle of the room. Della is brushing her hair. Jim is winding his watch.)
Scene1
Della and her friend are in the living room. They are chatting. Della is counting money.
D: (desperately) One dollar and eighty-seven cents! That’s all! I’ve already counted it three times and the next day it will be Christmas! I don’t have a present for Jim! (She begins crying.)
F: Don’t worry! Christmas and what! Nothing special. You can buy a present for him after Christmas.
D: But what can I buy for one dollar and eighty-seven cents.
F: I think he loves you without presents.
D: I have been saving every penny for months with this result! Only one dollar and eighty-seven cents!
F: By the way, what exactly do you want to buy for him?
D: You know Jim has a gold watch. It is very dear to him. It belonged to his grandfather and father. I want to buy him a gold watch-chain.
F: But you, what do you want to get as a Christmas present?
D: (dreamily) Once I saw beautiful combs in a shop-window. But they were so expensive. (regretfully)
D: I have a wonderful idea! (happily)
( She gets up, stands in front of the mirror and looks at her beautiful long hair)
F: What beautiful hair you have got! It is so long and thick. But what about your idea?
D: I know where I can take money! A hairdresser can buy my hair!
Scene 2
O. Henry: She leaves the house and in a few minutes she is already at the hairdresser’s.
At the hairdresser’s.
D: Hallo.
H: Hallo. What can I do for you?
D: Will you buy my hair?
H: Yes, I will. Take your hat off and let me have a look at it. It’s fine hair. (lifting the mass with a practiced hand) I can give you 20 dollars for it.
D: Give it to me quickly!
(The hairdresser cuts her hair off. Della is very happy. She takes the money and goes to buy a present for her husband.)
Scene3
At the shop.
Shop assistant: Can I help you?
D: I’m looking for a watch- chain for my husband.
S. a (showing her different watch-chains) We have got different watch-chains made of gold, silver and platinum. Which one do you prefer?
D. This one. (She chooses the chain.) It is just what I wanted. It is a platinum fob chain simple in design. As soon as I saw it I knew that it must be Jim’s. How much does it cost?
S. a. Twenty-one dollars.
D. I’ll take it. It's like him- quietness and value.
Scene 4
Della is dancing. She is excited. But she is also worried about her new hairstyle. She constantly looks at her reflection in the mirror long, carefully and critically.
D: Jim will kill me! I hope he will love me with my new hairstyle. But what could I do with a dollar and eighty-seven cents! (desperately) Please, God, make him think I’m still pretty!
The bell is ringing. The door opens and Jim steps in and closes it.
O. Henry. Poor fellow! He looks thin and very serious. He is only 22 and he needs a new overcoat and he is without gloves.
D: Jim, darling! Don’t look at me that way!
J: Why did you do it?
D: But my hair will grow again! It will grow awfully fast. Say “ Merry Christmas!”, Jim and let’s be happy!
J: You’ve cut off your hair!
D: Cut it off and sold it. Don’t you like me just as well, anyhow? I’m me without my hair! But look at my present! Here it is. (She puts a golden watch-chain into his hand) Give me your watch. I want to see how it looks on it.
J: (He sits down on the sofa, puts his hands under the back of his head and smiles.)
I’ve bought a present for you too. Open this packet, please. (He takes a packet out of his pocket and gives it to Della. She opens it and sees two beautiful combs, the combs that she saw in a shop window and wanted for so long.)
D: Oh my God! They are so beautiful! But they are so expensive! Where did you take money? Oh no, Jim!
J: I sold my gold watch, dear, to get the money for these combs. Let’s put our Christmas presents away, they are too nice to use just at present.
D: Oh dear, I love you!
J: I love you too. Merry Christmas, dear!
O. Henry: The magi, as you know, were wise men, who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger. They invented the art of giving presents. Jim and Della sacrificed for each other the greatest treasures of their house, so they are the magi.
Whole cast comes on stage.
