“What do you know about America ?”

Цели :

1) образовательная:

- развивать речевые умения в диалогической и монологической речи на основе творческого использования усвоенного ранее материала в новых ситуациях.

2) развивающая:

- развить речевую культуру

-развивать память, внимание, наблюдательность, логическое мышление, эмоциональную и мотивационную сферу личности

-расширить с помощью иностранного языка представления учащихся об окружающем их мире и о языке как средстве познания и общения.

3) воспитательная цель:

-формировать интерес к культуре, истории и традициям стран изучаемого языка

-воспитывать толерантность (терпимость) к иноязычной нации

- воспитывать культуру общения

-воспитывать самостоятельность, инициативность и умение работать в коллективе.Обогатить знания учащихся историческими фактами об Америке.

The theme: “What do you know about America ?”

Цели :

Задачи:

- развивать умение говорить в монологической и диалогической форме

- совершенствовать навыки изучающего чтения

- совершенствовать навыки аудирования

- совершенствовать грамматические навыки употребления артиклей с именами собственными



1. Org. moment . Greeting.

-- Good morning ! - How are you today ? --Are you fine today ? - - Are you well today? --Are you OK ?

-I'm also OK today. Let's begin our lesson.


2 --Teacher: Today the theme of our lesson is ''What do you know about America?'' Today we will speak about some interesting facts from the history of America and especially about the discovery of America. That's why we will have three tours today. The 1st tour will be ''The discovery of America'', the second tour will be ''The geographical position of the USA'' and the third tour will be ''American animals''. So, we have three teams for our lesson and their names are : ''Nina'' , ''Pinta'' and ''Santa Maria''. -And who are the captains of the teams? Well,------ is the captain of the first team. ---------is the captain of the second team and --------is the captain of the third team.

Each team has it's motto. The first motto is - ''All for our country.'' The second motto is- ''Union, justice and confidence. '' The third motto is - ''Wisdom, justice and moderation.'' Each team has a poster for work during the lesson.


3. - The first tour is ''The discovery of America''.

It will be a competition of our captains. Each task will cost 100 cents, 50 cents and 25 cents.. The best presentation will cost 100 cents.

Your home task was to prepare a presentation about America. The first will be the captain from ''Nina''. ( Students watch the first presentation.) The next will be the captain from ''Pinta''. (Students watch the second presentation ). The third will be the captain from ''Santa Maria''. ( Students watch the third presentation ) . Thank you for the presentations.!!!

So you get ....... cents. ( Students get 100,50 and 25 cents.)


4.- Phonetic drill : Now I propose you to repeat our lexical units for the lesson. Let's begin. ( words above)

--- to discover, discovery, to sail, to reach, crew, to turn, to include, species, air, desert, soil, root, insect, root, to move, common, earth, to support, carbon dioxide, to breathe.

Students work with the words at the board. (The students use the slapsticks)

Each group gets cents. (100,50 or 25)

Now let's use '' a hot chair '' for checking up the words.

Each group gets cents ( 100,50 or 25 )


The next task of our competition will be speaking.

You should answer the questions. First of all a student from each should take 3 questions and answer them. Who wants to take the questions ? Now, ---you please. Choose the questions and read them aloud. Let's answer the questions .

1.Who discovered America? When ?

2. Where was Christopher Columbus born ?

3. What do you know about his relatives ?

4. Who sent him to India ? Why ?

5. How many caravels did he have ?

6. Did they reach India ? Why not ?

7. Who were Pilgrims? What did they want to do in the New World ?

8. Where did they land ?

9. What was New England ?

Thank you for your answers. They were nice.

Each group gets cents. (100,50 and 25 )

Now let's continue our competition.


5. The second tour is '' American stairs''.

Your task is to translate the words which are connected with our theme.

You should go to the board and name the words. Try to name them as quickly as possible. Now let's begin. Students stand up in 3 lines , go to the board and glue the words as quickly as possible.

Each group gets cents ( 100,50 or25)


The next task is geographical crossing.

You should choose the names of lakes , rivers , mountains and states and match them on you posters. ( Students match the names on their papers and glue them on the posters. )

- Lake Ontario, Lake Huron, Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, the Mississippi, the Missouri, the Rio Grande and the Amazon, the Rocky Mountains, Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Appalachian Mountains, Mount McKinley, Arizona, California, Michigan, Florida, New Mexico, West Virginia, Montana, Maryland, Georgia, Connecticut, Colorado, Mississippi.


ex. Lakes - Lake Ontario, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, Lake Superior.

( Students get 100,50 and 25 cents )


Now you should name as many states as you can. - Students from each group write the names of the states on a sheet of paper. Then they read the names.

Each group gets cents. (25,50 and 100 )


6. The third tour is'' American animals ''.

Let's have a rest. Watch the video and enjoy it. Now watch , please and be very attentive. (Students watch a short video about American animals.)

Your task is to divide the names of animals in two groups . The first group is American animals and the second group is Kazakhstan animals.

Students get cents for their answers. ( 100.50.25.)


The next task is to compose the sentences from the words which I'll give you.

Be attentive and match all the words in the right order. ( Students compose the sentences from the words on small papers.)

Now, let's check up your sentences. The first group, read your sentence, please! Thank you. You are right ! The second group, read your sentence please ! Thank you! You are right! The third group, read your sentence please! Thank you. You are right !

Students get cents for their answers. ( 100,50 and 25.)


Reflection.

At the end of our competition we propose you to defend your posters. Each student say one sentence about America.

The third group, you please.


Now, thank you ! Your answers were very nice ! Now let's count your cents for the answers. Oh ! All of you get ''five'' today. The lesson is over ! Thank you. Good bye !
