  • Do gap-filling task with few mistakes only (1-2 mistakes)

  • link, with some support, sentences into coherent paragraphs using basic connectors on a limited range of familiar general topics

  • Greeting the students

  • Warm up (dividing in 3 groups of 5 according to their learning abilities)

Students choose colored (blue, red, green) marbles from the bag

  • Pre-learning

Learners look at the pictures on the blackboard and discuss in groups the title of new theme of the lesson and the aim of the lesson (pictures of outstanding people are mixed with pictures of their achievements)

Aim: complete the pictures of outstanding people with the pictures of their achievements

Running dictations (Skills: listening, writing )

Preparation

Teacher sticks three worksheets with short texts about biography of outstanding people on the walls. Members from each team run to the paper read and dictate the text to another member of their team.

Gap-filling task

Students work in close groups. They fill the gaps with description of some facts about people achievements according to the text. They fill verbs in sentences in Past Simple Tense

Exchanging the results

Thirst group separates to explain the text to other groups. Then comes turn of another group.

Completing

Students in teams complete the pictures of outstanding people with the pictures of their achievements on the blackboard

Group №1

Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie well-known as 'The Queen of Crime'. She was born in Torquay on 15 September 1890. Her full name is Agatha Mary Clarissa. Her early education took place at home and at the age of 16 she was sent to a school in Paris to complete her education. She had always enjoyed writing, from an early age her mother had encouraged her in the use of her extraordinary vivid imagination. She was married twice. Her first novel 'The Mysterious Affair at Styles' was published in 1920.

In her lifetime, she wrote 66 detective stories. Seventeen featured Miss Marple, over 40 featured Hercule Poirot. Agatha also wrote plays.- The Mousetrap ran in London for over 30 years and she wrote six other novels under the name of Mary Westmacott. Agatha Christie was invested as a Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1971. She died on 12 January 1976.

Rosa Rymbayeva

Rosa Rymbayeva was born on 28 October 1957 at the Zhangiz-Tobe station in the East Kazakhstan Province to a family of railway workers. She graduated from the faculty musical-dramatic comedy of theatrical-artistic institute in Almaty (1984). From 1976 to 1979, she was a soloist in the republican youth-pop band "Gulder" ("Flowers"), and from 1979 in a pop band "Arai", managed by her husband T.Okapov. Since 1979, a soloist of Kazakhconcert, the main republican concert.

She also combines as a teacher of Republic pop-circus college. The winner of various international contests of pop singers (1977 Sopot, Bulgaria: Golden Orpheus, 1979, Istanbul, Turkey). The winner of grand-prix of "Gala-83" international contest in Cuba. Her repertoire includes songs of Kazakh and foreign composers, along with the works of modern composers performs national songs in a peculiar interpretation. The artist is recognised as the Prima donna considering her popularity within in Kazakhstan and the CIS countries. Roza Rymbayeva became the people's artist at the age of 28. in 2005 Roza Rymbayeva get star on the Star Square in Moscow.

Ivan Shishkin

Shishkin was born in Yelabuga of Vyatka Governorate (today Republic of Tatarstan) and graduated from the Kazan gymnasium. Then he studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture for four years. After that, he attended the Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts from 1856 to 1860 and graduated with the highest honours and a gold medal. He received the imperial scholarship for his further studies in Europe.

Five years later Shishkin became a member of the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg and was professor of painting from 1873 to 1898. At the same time, Shishkin headed the landscape painting class at the Highest Art School in St. Petersburg.

He also took part in exhibitions at the Academy of Arts, the All-Russian Exhibition in Moscow (1882), the Nizhniy Novgorod (1896), and the World Fairs (Paris, 1867 and 1878, and Vienna, 1873). Shishkin's painting method was based on analytical studies of nature. He became famous for his forest landscapes and was also an outstanding draftsman and a printmaker.
