When you sit and write a letter
And you put it in the letterbox,
Do you know what happens to it,
When you put it in the letterbox?
Well, the letter takes a long journey,
It travels through the night.
And this is the story of that letter,
The letter that you write.
Well, the postman takes the letter to the sorting office,
He puts all the letters in a sorting machine.
Then the postman puts the letters into mailbags
And the mailbags take a trip, a trip by train.
And when they reach their destination,
The postman takes them from the station.
