How are you today? What’s the weather like today?

Today we`re going to talk about the world of professions. One of the most difficult problems a young person faces is deciding what to do about a career. So, today we are going to have a talk about choosing an occupation and getting a job.

Of course, you know, that there are many important changes taking place in the workplace nowadays. Some jobs are considered to be more prestigious and important, others are not so wanted.

Today we will work in group.

Profession – a job that needs a special education and training.


Job – the regular paid work that you do for an employer.


Occupation – a job or profession.


Work – to do the job that you are paid for.

Now it`s time for a guessing-game “What profession is it?” I`ll describe you a profession and you will give me the word.

Here are some professions: fashion designer, accountant, programmer, car mechanics, reporter, salesperson, doctor

Listen to the definition of professions, try to guess and name them.
